Ready in under 40 minutes, it combines simple ingredients for a hearty meal perfect for any night of the week. This recipe offers a satisfying plant-based richness with fresh herbs and a velvety sauce that delights every palate.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hamburger Steaks

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp plant-based butter

For the Creamy Dill Sauce

  • 1 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup plant-based dairy cream (or sour cream)
  • 1/4 tsp natural gelling agent
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Hamburger Steaks: In a bowl, gently combine ground beef, finely chopped onion, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), salt, and pepper. Mix carefully to avoid dense patties. Shape the mixture into evenly sized oval patties ensuring they hold together well during cooking.
  2. Cook the Hamburger Steaks: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 2 tablespoons of plant-based butter. Add the patties carefully and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until a brown crust forms and they are cooked through. Remove the steaks and keep them warm on a plate.
  3. Make the Creamy Dill Sauce: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon plant-based butter and sauté minced garlic until aromatic. Pour in vegetable broth and plant-based dairy cream, stirring to combine. Sprinkle in natural gelling agent and stir until the sauce thickens smoothly. Stir in fresh chopped dill and lemon juice. Simmer gently until the sauce is creamy and well blended.
  4. Combine and Serve: Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet with the creamy dill sauce. Spoon sauce over the steaks and warm together for a few minutes so flavors meld. Serve immediately while hot and fragrant.

Notes

  • Avoid overmixing the meat to keep the hamburger steaks tender and juicy.
  • Shape patties uniformly for even cooking and consistent texture.
  • Use fresh dill for vibrant, bright herbal notes.
  • Simmer the sauce gently to maintain a silky texture and prevent separation.
  • Use natural gelling agent sparingly for the right sauce thickness.
