Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)
  • 1 cup plant-based milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (natural)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, softened

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (natural)
  • 1/4 cup plant-based butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (natural)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce

Maple Glaze (natural)

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon plant-based milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the plant-based milk until lukewarm. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the milk and allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar (natural), cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and softened plant-based butter, stirring to form a soft dough. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Filling: While the dough rises, mix the maple syrup (natural), softened plant-based butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl until well combined. This filling will add cozy, aromatic flavor to the rolls.
  3. Roll and Fill: Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a 12×16 inch rectangle. Spread the prepared filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Shape and Second Rise: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 10-12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, spacing them slightly apart. Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. The kitchen will fill with a sweet, inviting aroma.
  6. Prepare and Apply the Maple Glaze: While the rolls bake, combine maple syrup (natural), plant-based milk, and the natural gelling agent in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a glossy glaze. As soon as the rolls come out of the oven, generously brush or drizzle the warm glaze over them for a shiny, sweet finish.

Notes

  • Ensure the plant-based milk is warm but not hot to protect yeast activity.
  • Knead the dough thoroughly to develop gluten, resulting in fluffier rolls.
  • Allow both rises fully to achieve a soft, airy texture.
  • Roll the dough tightly to keep the filling inside each roll intact.
  • Apply the glaze while rolls are warm for the best flavor and appearance.
